London Fashion Weekend!

If any of you saw my Youtube video that I did recently, you'll know that I went to London Fashion Weekend last week. If you want to see the video to get a bit of background for this post, then just click here.

Now in the past, I've normally gone to LFWend on either the Saturday or Sunday. However, this time I was invited to the Thursday evening 'Fashion's First Night', and I think it was definitely more trade people than the public! It had such a great atmosphere and buzz to it, I felt right at home!

Firstly I headed straight to the catwalk for the AW13 Trend Show. The show consisted of four key trends for the coming season presented by the amazingly stylish and hilarious Angela Scanlon. I'll give you a little summary of each of the trends.

The wonderful Angela Scanlon!
1. Pretty in Pink
Okay, so we've been seeing a lot of pink on the catwalk this season- think Simone Rocha and PPQ to name a few. This first trend comes in a range of fabrics and garments (especially coats). Here are some examples:

And here are my favourites of what I saw at LFWend!

What I saw: Beanie hats (big and floppy), layering shades of pink, pearl detailing, pink faux fur coats, paired with black accessories.

2. Back To Nature
This trend bows down to Mother Nature, with an ensemble of camouflage, faux fur, feather and tree prints, and earthy colours. Here are some examples:

What I saw: Flowers, faux fur, really really fluffy fur coats, black ankle boots, over the knee boots, parkas, earthy jumpsuits, shearling jackets, fluffy jumpers, fluffy trousers, fluffy everything! And of course, that awesome mushroom print dress!

3. Shape It Up
The big geometric look from last season continues with colour galore! Here are some examples:

What I saw: Graphic sweatshirts, over the knee socks, print dresses, stripes, monochrome, pastel pairings, leather gloves, 60’s and 70’s wallpaper prints, and an A-MAZING graphic coloured faux fur coat!

 4. Victoriana
Winter fashion's love affair with the gothic is mixed with femininity this season, with monochrome ensembles with soft lace and high necks. Drama alert! Examples:

What I saw: Black patterned trousers, ruffles, lace shirts, leather, high necks, white shirt/waistcoat combinations, military inspired jackets, 'boy meets girl', sheer socks and layering with lace.

So this is what I wore to walk the cobbles of Somerset House. I went for comfort as a main priority, as the weather was horrible that evening! I brought my new French Connection shirt and leather jeans out for their first outing, and layered my mens F+F jumper over the top to make up my 'boy meets girl' outfit. Teamed with my trusty Converses, my vintage Wrangler denim jacket and my Topshop chain necklace to add a touch of femininity and glitz, I was ready to go!

After the show, we were let loose on the pop up shops and stores around Somerset House! I have the list of exhibitors that I'll be scouring through, as there were so many beautiful things there that, if I had all the money in the world, I would buy!
