Dream Wardrobe #2

Dream Wardrobe #2

Dream Wardrobe #2 by leavefootprintsonmyheart-june27 featuring a long cashmere sweater

Now the winter months are drawing closer, its time to get layering! I just adore layering a shirt an jumper, with the collar of the shirt peeping out. Getting my preppy vibe on here! Also, boots are one of my go-to winter shoes, as they are practical yet so stylish. You don't have to worry about your feet getting wet with compromising on style! I have to admit, I do have quite a few tanned boots, so I really need to invest in some black ones! I also love the different textures in this outfit, with the mixture of denim, cashmere, and lace complimenting each other.

What do you guys think?

Orange Crunch Cream Dessert!

Orange Crunch Cream Dessert!

Orange Crunch Cream Dessert! by yourfabulouspolytipgirls featuring leaf home decor

This is a great dessert that I'll certainly be munching on this autumn,  which really gets you in the seasonal mood! Its very much a free method, so you can use as little or as much of each ingredient as you want.

Ingredients:
  • Ginger biscuits
  • 1 orange
  • Greek yoghurt
  • Honey
  • Chopped nuts/chocolate chips

Method:
  1. Put the ginger biscuits in a bag and crush them by hitting them with a rolling pin.
  2. Peel an orange and cut into small bits.
  3. Put some of the crushed biscuits into a ice cream glass or a bowl, followed by a couple of spoonfuls of Greek yoghurt, orange pieces and a dribble of honey.
  4. Keep building up the layers to the top.
  5. Finish off with a sprinkle of a topping of your choice, either chopped nuts or chocolate chips.

AND THAT'S IT!
Now sit back, relax, and enjoy your yummy little creation!

Hope you liked it!

Let me know if you try this, and if you like it or not!

October Glossybox!

Hello you gorgeous lot! Sorry for my silence at the end of last week, you know when you have those times when you're so busy that you don't even have enough time to sit down and breath? Yeah, that happened to me last week. There were times when I'd sit down to work on this blog or on a video post, and then something would happen that would mean I had to postpone it. But fear not! I'm back, after a fun day of building up some posts to share with you guys!

One of those posts is reviewing my October Glossybox, which I needed to do desperately as I'll be getting my next one soon! Some of you may remember in my last post about Glossybox that I said I would be giving them another go before deciding whether to switch to another company or not (if you don't remember, the post is here). Well, I still haven't come to a decision! The thing is, I discovered a couple of amazing things, while the rest didn't make me want to run to the shops to buy the full size versions of them. But, lets have a look at what I got, and maybe you guys can help me in making up my mind!

Again, I haven't had a chance to look at the magazine as life has been so hectic, but I really enjoyed the September one, even if it was a little short.

MeMeMe Cherub's Blush - Cheek and Lip Tint
So this was the only full size product I got in this box, which was a little disappointing. But I was excited to try this as I've not really tried any products by MeMeMe before, and I wanted to give cheek and lip tints a shot. It has very pretty packaging and has a little applicator brush, but the first thing that struck me about this product was the scent. IT SMELLS SO GOOOODDDDD!!!!! It basically smells of Turkish Delight, which is one of my all time favourite smells! It just makes me want to eat it (or drink it, in this case, but either way, not advisable)! I actually can't get enough! However, be careful when smelling this, because you may end up with it on your nose, and this stuff is hard to budge, which is a good thing if you're wearing it on your lips or cheeks, but not on your nose. I wouldn't advise it! Or on your hands either. I basically went around today with pink stained fingertips after I spilled some on them! Clumsy me! But anyway, this product has grown on me. When I first wore it out, I found that it made my lips look quite small and that put me off it a little. But today when doing this post, I decided to give it another go, and I realised what I was doing wrong! When I first tried it, I just put it on straight from the brush, but today I applied it with the brush, but then blended it in with my finger, and this gave it a more even coverage. I would also recommend putting a little Vaseline or lip balm over the top to give you a 'just-bitten' look. I also tried it on my cheeks, and even though it isn't very clear in these photos, I think when I have foundation on (to cover up my horrible redness that my cheeks sometimes flush to) it'll give a really nice natural colour to your cheeks. 4 out of 5

Katy Perry Killer Queen Fragrance
I seriously love trying out and discovering new fragrances, and this one is no exception! This is a great scent, a floral/fruity mix with some deep undertones that aren't too overpowering, despite the name! All together it is a bit heavy in the nose, so use sparingly. I love that the full size packaging has sentimental symbols on it that are personal to Katy, it really makes it feel like a lot of care and detail has been put into it, which makes it worth buying. I also like that, in the sample I got, it tells you what different scents have been used. 4 out of 5

Monu Illuminating Primer
This was my first experience of using a primer, as I had been looking around for one to choose, but wasn't sure about which one to try. Me being sent one in my box certainly helped! Applying this before my foundation made my skin look instantly brighter, and also made my foundation a lot easier to remove afterwards. However, you can use this on its own as a pick-me-up for when your skin is looking tired. I'm tempted to also mix it with a small amount of foundation to create a tinted moisturiser, one of my fave products since I first started using makeup! However, I don't think I'll be rushing out to buy the full size version, as in my box this month, I discovered a product that is so multitasking, I fell head over heels for it! But this is still a very good primer, so I give a 3 out of 5.

Premae Multi-Vit Smoothie Serum
I'm having to control myself while writing about this product, because I'm seriously obsessed with it! I know for sure that this will be going in my October favourites. This is the product that has beaten the Monu Primer above to my favourite primer post! I don't even know where to start! Okay, I'll just bullet point it to stop me rambling!
  • It soothes redness. My cheeks are always red. This is saving me majorly from turning into a tomato regularly.
  • Hydrates my skin. I'm prone to eczema, so this is amazing when I have a bit of eczema on my face as it doesn't irritate it.
  • Stops shine and keeps my skin matte. I sometimes get a bit shiny, so this is great at controlling it!
  • Using it before moisturising in the morning gives your skin a real lift.
  • You can use it as a primer, and mix it with foundation to create your own BB cream! Nuff said!
I give this a big fat 5 out of 5!

Eva Cosmetics Mystic Diamond Arganoil
At the moment, I've been using serums on my hair, so it was great to give this arganoil product a go! Although I didn't see any immediate effects, I did notice that after using this, my hair has gone a bit of a lighter blonde on the lengths! I'm definitely okay with this! However, I didn't really feel that this product 'did what it said on the tin' so I give it a 3 out of 5.

So what do you guys think? Do you think I should stay with Glossybox?

Autumn rock nails!

United Kingdom
So this season, there are quite a few nail trends leaping their way off the catwalks onto our nails, but here is a classic one that is fun, yet timeless- the rock look! Think 'just rolled out of bed' hair, 'last night's smudged' eye make up...it epitomizes beauty cool! Look to Georgia May Jagger and Daisy Lowe for examples, but here is my take on the trend in nail form!

Shape: Keep them short, as this takes nails from sophisticated (and long) to edgy. The rock chick is also about being practical, relaxed and not fussy, which is exactly what short nails are!

Colour: Dark, and either matte or super sparkly. Think blacks, blues and deep bronze colours. For example, I went for a deep midnight blue colour by Nails Inc called Kabaret, as at a first glance it looks black, but when you closer you can just see the blue sparkly tint of the polish.

Here are a few other examples of some of the great polishes out there:
  • Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Facet
  • Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquer in I'm A Pool For Love
  • Estee Lauder Pure Color Lacquer in Midnight Metal
  • L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche in Black Diamond
  • Rimmel London Salon Pro Kate in Punk Rock
  • Nubar Matte Finish Topcoat
Are any of you rocking this nail trend?

Dream Wardrobe #1

Dream Wardrobe #1

So I thought I'd start up another little series that will appear on my Polyvore as well as on here. As money makes the world go around, the world go around, the world go around...(sorry, I'll stop singing) you can't always afford the things that you want. So I'm creating a little 'mental wardrobe' of all the things I wish I owned! You never know, I may even be turning my dream into a reality with some of these gems!

This little outfit is a combination that mixes a few of this season's trends in one. With some gorgeous rich colours, textures and prints, this takes a classic outfit into a new, exciting zone. The PVC pencil skirt, especially, takes it into punk territory (I apologise, I've really been obsessing over this trend, but I can't help it)! This is mirrored in the patent collar, but when buttoned up, will still keep the outfit strict enough for work and evening. The leopard shoes break up the colour in the outfit with a bit of a fun streak. Love love love!!

October wishlist

As I've been lusting over sooo many items this month, I thought I'd share with you my wishlist for this month! I've chosen 4 fashion and 4 beauty products that I'm hoping to get and roadtest this season, so here we go!

1. Taylor Swift for Ked's shoes
Now you could say that I'm a tiny weeny bit obsessed with Taylor Swift (understatement of the year). So much so, that I'm going to see in on her RED tour in February next year!!!!!!!! So when I saw that she had partnered up with Keds, I had to check out the shoes. And I was not disappointed! Think reds (of course), navy, and some serious cute print, these shoes are just adorable!
You can get them here.

2. Chelsea Doll Black Stone & Gold Foil Plate Necklace
Everyone loves a statement necklace, me included! And this one will be a great piece to take you into party season! Imagine it teamed with a waterfall dress and some killer boots for evening.
You can get it here.

3. Jack Wills The Eccleston Tee
Jack Wills are one of my guilty pleasure shops. Their stuff is just sooooo comfy! I like a statement t-shirt, me, and this t-shirt is simple and so wearable! I'm in love with their sweatshirts too, but this top is firmly on my wishlist! I'll be wearing this with a denim jacket, leather skirt and boots.
You can get it here, in a range of different colours.

4. E-Vintage CHRISTIAN DIOR CARDIGAN
This is from a new site I discovered recently that sell vintage and designer pieces and very reasonable prices. This Christian Dior cardi from the 90's will be perfect this winter, as the wool will keep in much needed body heat! Great for winter walks and lunch out with friends, this will be you snuggle cardi! This will look cute teamed with a white lace dress and gold accessories to keep you warm.
You can get it here.

5. Lipcote
I've been after this for a long time, and plan to order it online as none of the drugstores near me stock it. Help keep your lippie locked in place with this magic cosmetic! I've heard very good things about Lipcote, and so if I get it, I'll review it for you all on my blog  and on here :)
You can get it here.

6. Topshop Lips in Hazard
This is a slightly darker red/plum colour, which fits in great with the dark lip trend this season. If you're slightly nervous about the whole dark lip thing, then this shade will be a great way to ease you into it without throwing you into the deep end!
You can get it here.

7. Illamasqua UV Glow Nail Varnish in Geist
I'm super excited about this collection from Illamasqua. Paranormal has a range of different products including liners, lipsticks and nail varnishes that is bold and beautiful. There are four varnishes that give high impact colour on their own, but under UV light they come alive with a bold glow. The Geist colour is a clear topcoat, so you can wear any colour underneath and still make it glow. This will be great for Halloween to top off your outfit!
You can get them here, in 3 other shades.

8. Crabtree and Evelyn Somerset Meadow Hand Therapy
I have a thing for handcreams. I have multiple on the go, as I just adore the different scents you can get that are such a treat for your hands. I hate having dry hands, so I think I'll definitely be trying this!
You can get it here.

What are you lusting over this month?

Little Tips: Jewelry organisation

So I've decided to start up a mini series on here called Little Tips, which will be short posts about little tips that have made my life (and hopefully yours) a whole lot easier!

The first tip in my Little Tips series is jewelry organisation! Now I know some people are extremely lucky enough to have whole cabinets full of drawers and hooks dedicated to their jewelry *sends jealous look to such people*, but if you don't have that kind of space, then do not fret! Gone will be the days when you used to fight to untangle your favourite necklace in a last minute dash to accessorize your outfit (guilty)! And the solution can only cost you a measly £1.50!

The answer, dear friends, the humble tie rack!

The tie rack is a multi-tasking genius! I certainly never thought of using it to organise my jewelry! As I have quite a lot of the stuff (I'm a sucker for jewelry) it was very frustrating in the past when I would be trying to find a certain item, but not have a clue where I put it. But now, I can plan what jewelry I want to wear, without wearing the same pieces again and again. I'm able to get a bit of rotation in what I wear. Plus, it really glams up this empty wall I have!

I also find that I can fit a lot on there! I put one necklace, one bracelet and one ring on each arm, and there are 16 arms, so I can plan way ahead! I got mine from Wilkinsons, but there are plenty of other stores that do them in various styles for different prices.

Would any of you guys try a tie rack to organise you jewelry? Or would you use it for something else?
