I’ve been going to Fashion Scout shows ever since I first started going to LFW. The Freemason’s Hall has become a familiar sight, and I now know my way around without looking like a lost lamb. I also know how the queues work too (and yes, the queues are pretty something at Fashion Scout)! If you love a good queue, this is the place to come during fashion week.
For SS16, Zeynep Kartal was inspired by iconic women and what aspects they have to think about when establishing herself in modern society. She has drawn inspiration from the formal dressing of historical figures, Hollywood legends and modern day leading ladies, creating a variety of different styles and shapes.
I overhead someone say the collection was like a high street Elie Saab, and I couldn’t agree more; beautifully tailored, dreamlike pieces yet so darn wearable! Oh so feminine yet practical enough to wear from day-to-night, sleek silhouettes ran throughout from strapless capped pencil dresses, to my favourite Tuxedo blazer dresses (I always go to my black PrettyLittleThing one for a night out).
All the pieces are made using couture techniques with an emphasis on clean cuts and embellishment including embroidery and sequin appliqué. The accessories were also kept simple with skinny colour matching belts that defined waists over transparent crepe column dresses with plunging necklines. One of my favourite dresses was a navy full skirt debutant style dress with hanging details at the bottom of the skirt. So glamorous and very Audrey Hepburn!
Then out came the wedding worthy dresses! The stunning lace floral designs over antique cream and white silk had everyone taking mental photographs for their wedding Pinterest boards ;)
