Bath Time Pampering

Bath Time Pampering

If you ever felt like you needed an excuse to pamper yourself, now couldn't be a better time. We're all a bit stressed out, and some of us have a lot more time on our hands, so now's the time to crack out those bath bombs you've been meaning to use, and the products that have been sitting on your bathroom shelves long forgotten.

One of my favourite pastimes is sitting in the bath listening to a podcast, which means I own my fair share of bath time pampering goodies. Here, I've rounded up some of my favourite products to use as well as some newbies I'm trying out.

BATH BOMBS AND OILS

Dr Bronner's Lavender Pure-Castile Soap

When I start running my bath, I immediately reach for an oil, bath bomb or bubbles to put in it. Even if I'm having a quick mid-week bath, I still like to make the time I spend soaking worth it. At the moment if I have a quick bath, I've been trying out the Dr Bronner's Lavender Pure-Castile Soap*. This multi-purpose soap can be used from anything from bath oil, soap, shampoo and shaving foam, to even cleaning your teeth, and so I've been trying out as many uses for it as possible. A few drops of this at bath time leaves the room smelling softly of lavender and the water slightly milky to give you a little boost of moisture while you soak.

Lush Snow Fairy and Madame President bath bomb

Of course, I couldn't talk about bath times and not mention Lush! I always have a supply of bombs and bubble bars to hand to use when I want a long soak, and they've never let me down. I stocked up at Christmas so I still have some Snow Fairy (my fave scent from them) bombs left over which I'm working through, but they also kindly stocked me up recently with some new products I haven't tried before! I'm particularly excited to try out the Madame President bath bomb* but here are a few more faves I recommend:

Ickle Baby Bot - this cute lavender robot is really gentle on the skin if you have sensitive skin, and even though it's designed for children, I personally love it.

Groovy Kind Of Love - this one is a colour spectacular and will turn your bath into a rainbow. The slightly citrus smell is a real pick me up if you're having a morning bath to pamper at the weekend.

The Comforter - a true classic that I've rebought countless times. This is one I return to if I want to feel completely relaxed, and even though it can sometimes leave my skin a bit itchy afterwards, I just can't get enough of it!

Twilight - another lavender fave, this one leaves my bath looking like a pastel sunset on the surface while the water beneath turns a deep purple.

WASHES AND SCRUBS

When it comes to washes and scrubs, I do tend to bounce from one to another without really sticking to repurchasing one again and again. I tend to more choose my washes and scrubs depending on my mood! From time to time I have been using the Dr Bronner soap as a body wash and it lathers up really well, especially if I'm having a quick shower

Soap & Glory's Rich and Foamous

At the moment, I'm making my way through this mahoosive bottle of Soap & Glory's Rich and Foamous which is definitely competing for a spot in my most loved washes. This smells amazing! The mixture of almond and honey almost makes this good enough to eat, while the oat extract in it helps to soothe my sensitive skin. I also really enjoy the thick moisturising consistency of it, as it makes bath time that bit more luxurious!

Ameliorate Smoothing Body Exfoliant

For scrubs, I've been trying out the Ameliorate Smoothing Body Exfoliant (ad-aff) which is supposed to be really good at getting rid of chicken skin, something that I have on my arms and sometimes on my legs too. It's not completely got rid of it on my arms, but it definitely doesn't seem as prominent, so I would be interested to see how this works long term (I've only been using it for a couple of weeks). I have found, however, that my skin seems to be locking in moisture a lot more than usual, which is something this claims to do along with encouraging skin cell renewal. The scrub itself is a mix of biodegradable granules and chemical scrub and is surprisingly kind to my skin!

Intimate washing is something that I really pride myself on, and personally find it does work wonders for keeping everything happy downstairs. For a while, I was struggling to find intimate care products that were eco-friendly, but then I was contacted by WooWoo, and everything changed...

WooWoo Pamper It Micellar Wash and Cranberry Cleanse Wash

I've been alternating between their Pamper It Micellar Wash* and their Cranberry Cleanse Wash* and both are really gentle yet do the job at washing my intimate area and keeping the PH levels balanced. If I had to choose between the two, I'd maybe pick the Cranberry Wash just because it smells so yummy. When it comes to their eco status, they are vegan, cruelty-free and their packaging is made from recyclable sugar cane. Plus they are a small UK business and I'm all for supporting them, especially at a time like this.

SHAVING

Alba Botanica Mango & Vanilla shave cream

My quest to find an eco-friendly shaving cream/foam has been long and hard. I did try out the Dr Bronner soap as a shaving foam but I found it wasn't thick enough to protect my skin while shaving. However, I think I've found one that works for me. The Alba Botanica Mango & Vanilla shave cream (ad-aff) firstly smells heavenly, and secondly gives me a really clean shave while keeping my skin protected and moisturised.

It is quite thick, so just make sure to clean your razor properly each time, but I've found it's the best eco choice for me without stretching as far as using coconut oil (which can leave the bath really slippery). It's made from 100% vegetarian ingredients, it isn't tested on animals and is paraben-free.

CREAMS AND LOTIONS

Hügg CBD Skin Cream

I recently put together a round-up post of my top 5 body lotions, but I've also been trying out this CBD one from Hügg*. My skin reacts really well to CBD products, so I was excited to give this a go.

This is really gentle on my skin, and I can honestly say I can still feel the moisture in it a few days after using it. I think this is partly due to the consistency of the cream- it's very thick. I would say this is more of a night-time lotion as it doesn't sink into the skin that well at first, and so I've been putting this on before bed if I've washed in the evenings to let it sink in overnight. Think of it as a moisture mask for your body. Also, the smell of this isn't my favourite (it smells very herbal) but as I only use this every so often it doesn't offend me.

WooWoo Saddle Sore Soothing Balm

Heading back to intimate care, I like to use a cream that helps reduce shaving rashes and ingrown hairs after shaving, and the Saddle Sore balm again from WooWoo* does a fantastic job! This is packed with natural skin soothers such as Chamomile, Aloe Vera and Rosehip Oil and it's an absolute essential for me - one I'll be repurchasing for many years to come.
