It's been a little while since I've talked properly about beauty here, so I thought it high time to bring it back with a bang for 2019.

Last year was a year for discovery when it came to beauty, as I soon realised that my skin doesn't like particular chemicals anymore, meaning I have to be really aware of what I'm putting on my skin in case it flares up.

Even my lips, it seems, want in on the action and I have since had to stop using my beloved Vaseline because that seemed to be what was flaring me up.

Hopefully, this now means I can get back onto my lipstick game more now they've settled down and I've found myself reaching for this lot in particular.

ARTDECO MULTI STICK IN COCOA POWDER

I love products that are multitasking as they seriously reduce space in your makeup bag when you're travelling. This multi-stick by ARTDECO in Cocoa Powder (40) was originally described as a concealer, but as it's quite dark for me (it's a chocolatey brown colour) I've been using it as a lipstick as well as a contour shade.

The consistency of this is super creamy and moisturising, and as it comes out so pigmented I normally apply this with a brush so I can go for as little or as much colour as I like.

I'm always really impressed with how long this lasts, possibly thanks to its gorgeous matte consistency that doesn't dry out the lips.

NEXT VELVET MATTE LIPSTICK IN IN THE BUFF

Another matte lipstick I've been enjoying is this velvet matte lipstick called In The Buff by Next.

I had never tried Next own brand beauty before but I have to say that I've been seriously impressed with the quality of it.

It's definitely not as long-wearing as my other lipsticks but I adore the pinky nude colour on me and it has a beautiful finish on the lips that again doesn't dry them out.

I'm also completely in love with the packaging which feels super luxurious with its metallic lid and two-tone colouring.

NO7 MATCH MADE MOISTURE DRENCH LIPSTICK IN PILLARBOX

My recent fave classic red lippie has been this one from No7. This has the perfect undertones that really make the colour pop on the lips and lasts pretty well throughout the day with only a couple of touchups needed.

Again this is super moisturising and leaves a semi-matte/satin finish on the lips. You can't go wrong with a pillarbox red not only in the winter but all year round!

MAC LIPSTICK IN DIVA

An old favourite of mine that always makes a reappearance in the winter months is Diva by MAC

This is one of my most trusted lipsticks- one that I know I can reach for and it helps me achieve that perfect wintery evening look I'm going for. I sometimes wear this during the day too by dabbing a bit on with my finger to create a stain effect.

The consistency and texture are so lovely, like all of MAC's lipsticks. Don't be scared by the colour as the berry-burgundy doesn't wash you out too much if you're pale like me. I'd maybe go into a store first and test the colour before you buy.

CYO TWO CLEVER BY HALF LIPSTICK AND LINER IN RAINMAKER

Lastly, I'm always on the hunt for the perfect nude and besides Velvet Teddy from Mac, I've also think I've found it in CYO's Two Clever By Half lipstick and liner in Rainmaker

This duo matches my lip colour perfectly, meaning it really gives that no-makeup look with only a hint of colour. The lipstick definitely isn't as pigmented as the liner, but I find they both work really well together, and leave a slight sheen on the lips.
