Christmas Gift Guide: Grandmas & Mothers-in-Law

Christmas Gift Guide: Grandmas & Mothers-in-Law

Cracking on with my third gift guide of the season!

This time, we're covering grandmas and mothers-in-law - normally a tricky category to buy for, but I think I've found some great picks that would put a smile on their faces.

If you need some inspiration for other members of your family and friends, take a look at my other gift guides for friends & sistersfragrance lovers and bookworms

HOMEWARE

You can never go wrong with a gorgeous smelling candle, especially when you know it's a scent they like.

BAYLIS AND HARDING SWEET MANDARIN & GRAPEFRUIT TALL CANDLE £12.99

Baylis and Harding always have the best scent mixes and their sweet mandarin and grapefruit is a personal favourite. They do huge candles for a really good price, and with their festive packaging are great for present ideas.

Their tall candle boasts an incredible 38 hours burn time, perfect for cold winter nights, and is currently on a special offer on Amazon

HAIRCARE

If there's a haircare brand that they love or want to try, then keep your eye out for gift sets that really save you money.

PERCY & REED STARS OF WONDER GIFT SET £30

Percy & Reed have brought out their Stars of Wonder gift set featuring hero products such as their Wonder Balm and Overnight Recovery as well as a mini shampoo and conditioner. This set is worth over £50 but they're selling it for £30!

I'm already a huge fan of their products, so the fact that you end up with two full-size products makes this set such good value.

Their Wonder Balm has been a lifesaver for me in the winter months when my hair can get frizzy and static, and I really recommend their dry shampoo as well!

SKIN AND BODY CARE

I normally go for more luxurious moisturising products when it comes to buying skin and body care gifts for this group, as they are great for when they want to give themselves a pamper session.

ESPA OPTIMAL SKIN PROSERUM £51

Serums are always a good option for this, like the ESPA Optimal Skin ProSerum. This serum is super nourishing and evens out your skin leaving it healthy and radiant.

I tend to use this at night and it leaves my skin silky smooth in the morning, making my base makeup really easy to apply.

It contains lots of essential oils, vitamins and omegas so you know you're not putting any harsh chemicals on your skin that might irritate it, and I honestly cannot get over how amazing this smells. This reminds me of facials at spa days, and I take a second to breathe in the aroma before applying to calm me before bed.

IT'S SKIN POWER 10 VE SERUM £12

For a more affordable option, then It's Skin is definitely a brand you should check out. I spoke about them a little in my friends & sisters gift guide but wanted to also mention their serums.

Like the cleanser and moisturiser in that previous gift guide, their serums come in the different ranges containing the different vitamins they contain.

This one from their Vitamin E range works really hard to keep up your skin's brightness, while the Vitamin E protects the skin against environmental aggressors such as pollution and central heating (making it great to use in these colder months).

IT'S SKIN POWER 10 VE SERUM £12

I have recently become a bit of a convert to bath soaks- I used to be a real bubble bath kinda girl but now I've found even my bath bombs have become neglected in favour of the relaxing scents and silkiness of soaks.

TROPIC MINI LUXURY BATH FOAM COLLECTION £22

Tropic is a favourite of mine when it comes to moisturising products for my body and hair, and I'm currently using their Soothe the Senses soak when I run a bath.

They have loads of different gift sets for Christmas, like this Mini Luxury Bath Foam Collection. What I love about these is that they have the consistency of a bath soak, while creating bubbles that leave the skin moisturised, meaning you get the best of both worlds if you like a good bubble bath.

These foams are 100% natural and vegan, and smell absolutely gorgeous with the foams coming in Tahitian Vanilla & Coconut, Passionfruit & Ginger Lily and Monoi & Orange Flower.

MAKEUP

Makeup can normally be a bit more tricky to buy for this category, but I find that nail polish and makeup in neutral colours go down well.

KORRES GEL EFFECT NAIL COLOUR IN STEEL BLUE AND CANDY PINK £8 EACH

While trying out some of the different gel effect polishes out there I've found Korres polishes to be really reliable with their durability and pigmentation.

I'm particularly loving Steel Blue, a classic navy blue perfect for the winter, and Candy Pink which was a total surprise as I don't reach for pink polishes normally.

Once applied, I find these last a week with a normal topcoat, and up to 10 days with a gel topcoat so the long-lasting claim really does live up to expectations, unlike other brands.

Supporting sustainable brands has been a movement that has been coming into force in a powerful way this year thanks to our beloved David Attenborough talking about our plastic consumption and what effect it has on our environment, and one of my goals for next year is to try and cut down my waste that affects the earth as much as possible.

NEEK SKIN ORGANICS LIPSTICK IN COME INTO MY WORLD AND LIPGLOSS IN SHINE ON £15.99 EACH

When creating this guide I was introduced to Neek, an organic skincare company from Australia founded on the owner wanting to create products that are natural, don't irritate the skin, aren't tested on animals and don't harm the environment.

Their wooden packaging on their lipsticks are super aesthetic and are made from recycled materials. And to top it off, the lip products themselves are fab too!

Their Come Into My World lipstick is a lovely pink nude colour (if you're any paler than me then you might find this a bit too pale) and doesn't dry out the lips thanks to the shea butter in it.

They also have their all-natural Shine On gloss, which has the moisturising powers of a lip balm with the shine of a lip gloss.

This works just as well over a lipstick as it does on its own while nourishing the lips with jojoba oil and Vitamin E.

FOOD & DRINK

Want to stay clear of beauty and homeware? Why not go for something a little different with something food & drink related.

I'll start with a classic- chocolate.

HOTEL CHOCOLAT A DOZEN GINGERBREAD MEN £8

Someone with a sweet tooth while never turn down chocolate, especially at this time of year. Hotel Chocolat is always a go-to for me as their flavour mixes are spot on every time.

They have some amazing festive chocolate boxes at the time of year, and I just think these dozen chocolate gingerbread men are the cutest.

Cast in 40% milk chocolate with a cinnamon, ginger spice and nutmeg flavour to them, they are the perfect treat after Christmas dinner.

As always, their festive stocking filler sets are mix and match for any 3 for £20, or grab this one separately for £8

HOTEL CHOCOLAT A DOZEN GINGERBREAD MEN £8

If you want to think outside the box a little, then I think I've found a great idea for you. If your grandma or mother-in-law is a big tea drinker, then how about getting her some loose tea?

ADAGIO LOOSE TEAS & TEAWARE

I've been lucky enough to be trying out the range of teas from Adagio Teas over the past couple of months, and with their huge range of traditional and seasonal teas, I knew I had to include them in a gift guide.

They truly have a tea for everyone- if you like your traditional teas then they have a huge range of teas from around the world including China, Japan, India and Sri Lanka that are handpicked and sourced from local farmers whom they communicate with directly.

They also use the full leaf, which means you get more flavour for your money, unlike some loose teas I've tried.

For the more adventurous types, they also have flavoured teas in a huge range of flavours from chocolate and cinnamon to fruit and nuts, and they've even put together some Christmas teas too!

I've been really impressed with the flavours of these teas and completely converted me to drinking black tea more often as the flavours are so incredible.

They also have their own teaware, and along with their teapots, I've also really been enjoying their infuser mug for when I'm just making tea for myself.

You can either order their teas in bags or if you want to try them out before you buy a full bag you can order a sampler bag or a sampler box which contains four different teas in the range.
