Inside London Fashion Week: Steventai

Granny chic is in, don't you know.

Believe me, I wasn't expecting it either. The people at Steventai had transformed part of the Elms Lester Painting Rooms into granny heaven, with rocking chairs, record players and needlework. They even had a genuine granny sporting the designs!

The collection 'Freaky Friday' was inspired by the phrase 'an old soul'- the idea that the steventai girl is wise beyond her years and is someone older trapped in a younger body. Bulky materials such as corduroy is frayed for a slightly undone, modern feel, while paired with lavender pleats and soft details. Silhouettes balloon out to wrap and engulf the body, almost like wrapping up in a warm duvet. Pearls and bow shirts were rife, with ruffled collars and cuffs to boot.

Last season's comfy loungewear continue on into AW16, with wool slouchy trousers layered under wrap jackets to protect from the elements, all while looking stylish. The only flare of the bold that I saw was a huge layered corduroy flower on the back of one of the jackets and even then, the model was not placed with it in full view to us. This is clearly a brand that leads you down through its layers...

"Two things you discover when you're older and wiser- you're not actually any wiser, and behind the wrinkles, you're not any older, either." Robert Brault
