Just as you catch your breath from the last fashion week, the new season is knocking at your door.
It literally feels like only a month ago that I was writing up my SS16 reviews…now look at where we are?! The new fashion month is here, and there are some really exciting collections coming our way! Let's start with my first and definitely most exciting designer.
I've loved Clio Peppiatt's collections right from when she launched her label in 2014. Her fun, playful vibe has caught the eye of the fashion industry and stars alike, including designing for Charlie XCX's tour last year. This season is no different; the AW16 collection Motel Clio is a Wes Anderson inspired feast for the eyes. Inspired by the anonymity of the environment of motel's, the collection compromises of slogan cashmere jumpers, coloured faux fur and silk bomber jackets. The colour palette is a lot darker than usual, with blues, purples and greens creating a beautiful backdrop for the items. Pieces are adorned with whimsical embroideries such as dancing women motifs, scorpions and retro matchboxes and matchsticks…how cute are those matchstick kick flares?! One of the standout pieces, the mesh leotard, has strategically placed hearts that match the embellished berets (a collaboration with milliner Francesco Ballestrazzi). Other collabs include Tatty Devine who have created custom lobby boy badges and mini suitcases, and the awesome footwear comes in the form of Streetzie's high heel bunny slippers- as a 90's kid who wore bunny scrunchies, this was right up my street!
Would you be brave enough to wear those bunny slippers? I'm not sure I would be, but they sure do take me back!
