Summer Playlist

So I'm back after an exciting week filming up in Norfolk! It's been so much fun, and I can't wait to share what I've been working on with you! I've had to do a lot of travelling this week, and whenever I travel I'm always reliant on my music to keep me going. Spotify is one of my most used apps, along with Shazam for finding out the names of really cool songs I hear out and about. If you're ever in a shop, just turn Shazam to auto as there as some real hidden gems on shop playlists! I also went to T in the Park this year, which has really upped my love for certain artists (many of whom you will spot in this post). I did a playlist post like this aaggeess ago, but I've been wanting to bring it back for so long...and here we are! So take a look below for what I've been listening to most this summer:

Everything Everything - Distant Past
I have been listening to EE for a while now, and after seeing them live twice now, I just can't get enough of them! I love their old stuff, but the new album Get to Heaven is not to be overlooked. Distant Past was one of the first singles to be released from the album, and I just can't get it out of my head! And once you give it a listen, neither will you ;)

Alt-J - Left Hand Free
I literally freaked out when I saw them live for the first time at T. They are incredible, and each song is so unique. This is a particular favourite, with it's heavy indie/alternative vibes.

Ed Sheeran - This
This is an oldie but a goodie. I don't think I'll ever stop loving Ed's music; I think he's such a great songwriter and his songs are almost like poetry!

Crystal Fighters - Plage
I'd never really listened to these guys consciously until my boyfriend made me listen to them, and I discovered I actually knew a lot of their songs! I think I heard this one on an advert (another source of good music) so was pretty excited to discover this! It's just so happy and summery!

Circa Waves - T-Shirt Weather
This was really good live at T. They're a great band to look out for, especially with the success of this song and Fossils. Again, this is another great summer song for road trips especially.

Hozier - Work Song
If you've been put off by Hozier because of Take Me To Church being overplayed, give him another chance. His music is amazing, and has such heart and soul to it. This is a little gem from his debut album, and it never fails to get me singing along. Sure, it is a little morbid, but his voice is stunning in this. And if you can, see him live as he really shines when onstage!

Jamie T - Rabbit Hole
Jamie T has reaalllyy grown on me, and seeing him at T really helped that. He is just so fun and fresh and incredibly talented. His fast lyrics keeps things exciting and the crowd went crazy when he played this! You've got to love an angsty song that you can shout and scream along to, and this is one of them!

Foals - Mountain At My Gates
I just don't know where to begin. I'm seriously in love with Foals, and their new stuff has just made me love them even more! What Went Down is sooo crazy and really established a new sound for them, and this song has a great mix of their old and new sound. You just want to dance like crazy in the second half (and yes I do that already).

Dutch Uncles - Upsilon
I saw these guys when they supported Everything Everything a few years ago, and when I saw they had a new album out, I had to check it out. And I love it! Their happy techno vibes remind me a bit of Bloc Party but they feel like a breath of fresh air in this genre. Try and see these guys live if you can- their funky dad dancing is on point ;)

The Wombats - Flowerball
This is one of the bonus tracks off their new album which I'm really loving! All of the songs do not disappoint, especially this one. It just sticks in my head!

I made a playlist of these on Spotify if you want to listen to these tracks in all their glory which you can find here!

What are you listening to at the moment?

  1. Hozier and Ed Sheeran are two favourites of mine as well (along with Passenger), but I must admit I'd never heard about the others you mentioned, and now I'm pretty intrigued! I'll definitely check them out :D
