Music is a big part of my life. It gets me
through my day really. I feel a bit lost if I don't have the radio, my iPod or
a CD on in my room. I just love it, as there are songs that you can relate to,
have a cry to, or just dance around without a care in the world to. So I
thought I'd share a bit of my music taste with you! And I promise that I'll try
not to go on too much about Taylor Swift *has fingers crossed behind back*.
I said I would try, okay!
Starting off are my Top 5 songs I'm loving!
TOP 5 SONGS:
1. Taylor Swift- Sweeter Than Fiction
Okay, okay, I stumbled at the first
hurdle. But none of my other ones are Taylor . However much I love her! So this is her
new one for the film soundtrack of One Chance, the film based
on the story of Paul Potts, who won Britain 's Got Talent in 2007. I really want to
see this film, so naturally I had to check out the soundtrack too!
2. Lorde- Royals
This always has me singing along. The
simple melody and harmonies always make me feel at ease. A real chill
out song.
3. Half Moon Run- She Wants To Know
I loved this band since Full Circle , and they just keep churning out some
great tunes! A song for easy days with its soft vocals and slightly dark
undertones.
4. Ben Pearce- What I Might Do
The dancer in me adores electronic music.
And this is no exception! Great beat, and I adore his voice!!!! One of those
songs where you just want to dance in the middle of the street like you’re in a
flash mob.
5. Luke Friend- What Makes You Beautiful (cover)
If you saw The
X Factor a couple of weeks back, you may have seen lil’ Luke Friend cover One
Direction’s What Makes You Beautiful. When I saw the song choices the day
before the show, I had a small feeling that he was going to smash it. And I was
right! I think he partly used The 1975’s arraignment for their cover of WMYB in
the Radio 1 Live Lounge, but he still made it partly his own, especially with
that beaauuttifulll voice of his! I’m a sucker for a rock voice, okay? I’m
definitely a #friendie! Also, I have his EP Live Ont’ Sofa on repeat;
it’s a perfect mix of covers and originals. I have fallen head over heels in
love with it, and him!
BAND
TO WATCH:
Darlia
I first heard of Darlia when Fearne
Cotton played them on her show a while back, so I thought I’d check them out.
And I really really like them! They’re
an alternative rock band from Blackpool who are causing a stir in the music world at the moment. Think
dark grungy lyrics that you can still sing along to but that pack a punch and
awesome riffs. My fave is their single Napalm;
it’s one of the songs I dance around my room to. A lot.
So, a real mixture there, right? I was
brought up on so many different styles, from rock to R’n’B to folk to musicals,
so I appreciate different styles in their own ways. And I get asked a lot who
my favourite artists are, and I really cannot give me a simple answer! But, for
those of you who have asked, I shall now tell you the artists that I hold close
to my heart:
Mumford and Sons
Bruce Springsteen
Coldplay
Taylor Swift (of course)
Paramore
Destiny’s Child
The Who
Led Zeppelin
Deep Pruple
Fall Out Boy
Linkin Park
Bob Marley
Christina Aguilera
Jimi Hendrix
The Beatles
Avril Lavigne
What songs and artists do you love at
the moment?
