The lovely thing about blogging is that you meet
some awesome people. And the Grabble lot are some of those people! They never
fail to make me laugh and I look forward to every email I get from them! An
email from Katie makes me smile every time ;) I recently had the honour of
being invited to their Andrew Barton #GrabAMakeover event as a thank you for
the support us bloggers have given them over this year. So fedora in hand (which I didn’t
end up wearing that much as it was so hot!), I trundled down to Andrew’s salon
in Covent Garden.

I love it when brands do guest posts, as it gives us a great insight into what's rocking their world at the moment! This time, we have the lovely Shopcade who are here to tell us about the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival 2014 which is well under way! So if you're heading there, here's what's in store for you next week!! Take it away Shopcade:
--------------------------------
While summer in the UK can tend to be all
about the music festivals that are happening the length and breadth of the
country, there is also plenty going on for us fashion lovers to get excited
about.
The third Edinburgh
International Fashion Festival will adorn Scotland’s gorgeous capital city
from 17 – 25 July 2014, and is an event that is growing bigger every year, no
doubt helped by its position in the calendar.
What should you be looking out for if
you’re headed to the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival 2014?
London College of Fashion Talks: New Horizons
This event,
being held in the George
Street Assembly Rooms at 12pm on Monday 21 July, is a must for anyone
interested in any aspect of the fashion industry, whether you’re a fashion
student, already work in the industry, or are looking to break into fashion in
some way.
This collection
of talks is put on by the London
College of Fashion, a part of the University of the Arts London, and
features a course leader discussing a variety of different aspects of the industry.
The talks will
look at contemporary and luxury high fashion, along with bespoke and artisan
brands, perfect for anyone interested in these areas or who is looking at
expanding their fashion knowledge portfolio.
Specifically, the event will look at how the brands in question use
visual communications and language to grow the brand and get their message out
to the world.
London College
of Fashion Talks: New Horizons is free to attend and no booking is required.
Menswear Salon
Menswear
Salon is the event at the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival that
will showcase some of the best-loved brands that are based in Scotland.
Another that is held at the Assembly Rooms,
Menswear Salon will see Pringle, Hancock and Common People show off their
latest collections, and this year they are joined by South Africa label Adriaan
Kuiters.
Despite being a huge part of the fashion
industry, it remains true to this day that men’s fashion can often be an
afterthought when it comes to such shows and events. No chance of that happening here, whatever
your reason for seeking out men’s fashion.
These labels, plus others including Dunmore
of Scotland and Obscure Couture,
will also be attending the Makers Market events at the festival at the same
venue.
·
Menswear Salon takes place on
Tuesday 22 July at 5pm.
·
There are two Makers Market
events, one on Monday 21 July from 12pm – 6pm, the second the following day
from 10am – 6pm, giving you the opportunity to combine the two at one great
venue!
Topshop: Fashion Forum Event
The Topshop
name is always sure to get interest and this event is no different in that
respect. From 6:30pm on Tuesday 22 July,
Topshop on Edinburgh’s iconic Princes Street hosts a panel discussion with
fashion industry experts and some of the industry’s most popular bloggers.
If that isn’t enough to convince you,
there’s a free drinks reception upon arrival for all attendees! You’ll also get an exclusive look of what
Autumn/Winter 2014 at Topshop will look like.
What could be better?
If you’re headed to the Edinburgh International Fashion
Festival be sure to know the events you want to attend, and head back to us
after you’ve been to tell us all about it!posted in
I’ve
done something I’ve never done before… I’m wearing all new things. At the same
time. Bought AT THE SAME TIME!
Excluding the shoes and bracelet (kinda), the rest of this outfit is brand sparkling
new. *insert shocked face here*
Now
you may be wondering why this is such a biggie to me. Well, normally (you may
be able to tell this if you look back at previous OOTD posts) I mix what I wear up quite
a bit; a bit of old, a bit of new, a bit of high end, a bit of vintage. I do
love it though when things bought so close together work so well in an outfit,
like this one!
This
was a proper ‘blogger made me do it’ moment; I originally saw the crop top on
my lovely blogger friend Kristiana Vasarina (you can see her post on it here,
featuring me in a couple of the photos) and she looked absolutely stunning! She
originally wore it with a porcelain print midi skirt (you can find it in my
birthday wishlist here). I loved the ensemble, but wanted to give myself the
challenge of styling the crop top my own way. Just for fun!
And this is the result! I used my discount from Grabble to get the top and skirt, which compliment each other beautifully! The skirt works really well sitting on the waist so that a little bit of tummy flashes ;) I adore the digital print of the skirt too!
The
top is a teeny weeny bit big for me around the armpits, which does mean that I
have to pull it down every so often so that the sides don’t stick out. I think
if you go down a size then you’ll get the tight bandage wrap look that was
originally intended, but I don’t mind too much! It’s just proving that I’ve
lost weight. And I definitely like the sound of that!!!!
The
lemon clutch is the third new thing in this outfit! I originally saw a similar
one at the Accessorize/Monsoon press day I went to last year and had been
trying to find it when I saw this one from New Look (via ASOS) and thought I’d
get it! I love the cartoon style of it- just like its jumped right of the page!
It’s been my go-to clutch since getting it, as it’s super spacious and so much
fun!
The
bracelet was actually made for me by two little girls that I teach. They made it themselves! How adorable! The little Buddha is just so cute!

I decided to make my July wishlist into a bit of a brand focus one as IKRUSH have been turning out some amazing pieces recently! From playsuits to shoes, kimonos to bags, IKRUSH is crammed full with catwalk and celeb-inspired fashion! So these are just some of the things I've been loving from IKRUSH (also scroll to the bottom for a 15% discount, with love from me):
These wedges are super fun! The suede effect has a great texture to it and the multi crossover straps hint towards the gladiator shoes of the season. These will be perfect dressed up or down; either with jeans for day or a patterned playsuit for night! Also the heel height (5.5") is just the right height for me to add some extra inches to my height ;)
This is one of the many playsuits I've been drooling over from IKRUSH! I love a good floral pattern as they are so timeless! It has an elasticated waist (great if you're going to a lot of summer BBQ's this year) and it'll look just as good with a kimono for a summer festival, or with chunky flatforms and clutch for night!
Bum bag- the essential bag for festivals! Anything to keep your hands free while you dance around to your fave band! I adore this cute pink and white paisley patterned as it'll make you stand out against all the standard black bum bags in a crowd! It also has two pockets; more space = less worry about trying to fit that mini bottle of dry shampoo into your bag in case of day 3 hair mishaps!
Wedges really are my go to heels for summer! They are just so much more easier to walk around in on summer days! They will definitely help you walk a bit straighter after having one too many Pimm's! With a bright pink and green pattern on the heel and leather look straps, they'll look great with a crop top and shorts for day, and a skater dress for night!
I know, I know, another floral print playsuit. But I just can't resist daisies! They are just so cute! The navy background is a great alternative to the standard black, its a lovely take on the girl-next-door vibe. Imagine girl-next-door gone out clubbing and you've got the essence of this playsuit! Great with a leather jacket and chunky heels for a girls night out!
My love for chunky sandals is still going strong! The trucker tread, the thick straps...they are just so quirky! Perfect sandal for this summer, I'll be wearing mine with patterned trousers and a cami!
I am one of those many people that have been spotted in Topshop lusting over the beautiful floral headpieces but have walked away because of their excessive price tag. But fear not! I found the perfect alternative! This is one of my fave things out of this wishlist, its just such a special little headpiece! The thing that sells it for me is the beautiful beaded detail that can be worn at the front or the back. It means you can take it from festival gear to evening soiree in a couple of secs! Also, with blue being my favourite colour, I fell for the different shades and sizes of the flowers!
Black jumpsuits are such a powerful statement piece! The delicate lace detailing softens it a bit, but this is one of those pieces of clothing that needs minimal accessorising to make it look fab! I also love the open back! So grab your highest heels and strut your stuff!
There is a certain time period over summer where I obsess over gingham! The inner child in me reminisces to watching Judy Garland as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and remembering how much I wanted to be like her! This pretty summer dress has lovely details, like turned up sleeves and pleated skirt. Great to throw on over your bikini or to dress up with rose gold jewelry.
10. Ciara Black Ankle Boots
I'm a big collector of boots, but I don't have any cutout ones :'( these fit the bill perfectly! They have a slight heel and gold buckles and will see you all year round. Rock them with now with a lace shift dress and a fedora, and then in the winter with leather trousers and a jumper.
See anything you like? Well to make things even better, IKRUSH have given me a 15% exclusive discount just for you lovely readers of mine! When you get to the checkout, just type in IKBL15! Enjoy!
What will you be using your 15% discount on?

I love discovering new brands! It just makes your shopping experience that little bit more special as you won't be wearing the same as everyone else. It's especially exciting if they become popular and you followed them from the very beginning! I'm always on the hunt for new brands to try, and one that I came across recently is Sugar For Spike!
With cute prints and sharp staples, I'm absolutely loving their debut collection! With a summery girly vibe mixed in with bold evening-wear, this brand is definitely one to watch! I've definitely got my eye on that lace dress! They wanted to shout out to the world about their collection, so have a little read below:
Sugar For
Spike is pleased to announce the release of its debut collection editorial
lookbook.
The
inspiration behind the lookbook comes from two friends, looking for an escape
from the perfectionism and commercialism of their city, where they stumble into
a “secret” underground hangout to have a little carefree fun.
Dancing and
twirling throughout the night, and forgetting whom they are and what the world
deems as appropriate behaviour, they end up discovering that the liberation from
the night out will be one of the memories they will treasure about their
youth.
The
collection is slated to release at select retailers and online at sugarforspike.com on
7th August 2014. The line is also available for pre-order now, with
free international shipping. Closing date for pre-orders is 10th July
2014.
They're also holding a giveaway for people signing up, giving you the chance to win one of 5 Urban Decay vouchers worth £100! Go and sign up here!
